What mode are you playing? Manager Only? GM Only? Or Manager/GM?
I'm pretty sure it's not Manager Only, but correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, go into Game > Settings > Global Settings. On the left side of the screen, all the down near the bottom is "Coaching Staff Settings". If there is not a check in the very last box, put one in there, so GM-only players will have full control over your day to day lineups (and pitching rotation & reliever assignments). That should fix it.
It's been so long since I set up my universe. I started as GM only, switched to GM & Manager (won 2 manager of the year awards
) and I'm back to GM Only mode. You might have to enable Commissioner Mode. You'll find that option in Manager's Office > Manager Options on the right side of the page near the top is the checkbox for enabling/disabling Commissioner Mode. If you enable that you'll have 100% complete control of every facet of your universe. You could change lineups for other teams, for instance. But don't do that. Commissioner Mode can be the path to The Dark Side of The Force. So, go easy...
