Does a team need a captain -- and player complaints
I was wondering what affect not having a team captain may have on a team.
My 2028 St. Louis River Walkers, I play out every inning of every regular-season game, started out the season just fine without one.
They went 21-11 in March/April, 17-12 in May but are 6-8 in June, and have lost 4 of 6.
That puts their record at 44-31, but leaves them just a half-game up in the division.
The question is there because under the bench coach report "There is some dissension in the clubhouse."
Our only leader is a second-year reliever.
Also our best pitcher, Angel Tiburcio, is listed as being a disruptive influence -- or is he the one complaining about someone else, I'm not sure -- after suffering his first loss since a 7-0 start.
Problem is, I really like my roster.
Everyone seems to have a role and there is no one who could be considered a throwaway just to get some veteran "captain" on the team.
Even my backup catcher is vital, being probably my best left-handed bat off the bench.
Season's still young, we're six games shy of the midway point, but I don't want to let things fester because I think this division race will be a fight to the finish.
