Fighting Frogs checking in from D352 this week.

We've stalled out in our quest to make PL.

Our best opportunity was actually on the eve of the 1st week of PL when we lost in the Diamond league series (as an underdog) in 6 games. Since then, we've been dumped in the DS against a team 18 games worse than us in the regular season; we lost in the DS in 4 games to a team of roughly equivalent strength; and last week we made it thru the DS against a superior team only to get dumped in 5 games in the Sub-League series by a team 14 games worse in the regular season. And so it goes...

This week the Frogs are sitting at 46-34 and with a scant 0.5 game lead over the powerful Wayzata Trojans. Frog pitching has been so bad...how bad? So bad that I cheered when we rose from last in the conference in runs allowed to 13th. Ok, so I'm doing some positional training, but is that so wrong? It's still been carnage above and beyond. 100 Maddux with a 4.79 ERA and 100 Paige banished to the bullpen with a 6.59 ERA. 100 Nolan Ryan has been my most successful RP with a 4.72 ERA. He could pop an Advil and go another 9 innings, I'm sure.

So, how on Earth are we over .500 with this crackpot pitching staff? The offense is doing what it usually does. And what it usually does is place 1st, or nearly so, in the conference in runs scored. SE Yogi Berra leads the club with 2.0 WAR (10 HR 27 RBI .316/.377/.563) and is joined in the 10+ HR club by SE George Sisler (12 HR 65 RBI .290/.346/.502).

In this type of Friends'-List-thingie-league that is D352, there aren't too many off days. So, I don't foresee these Frogs going on much of a heater. Nope. We'll just have to hope the training levels off, the pitching picks up, we grind closer to 100 wins, and finally for the love of God do something worthwhile in the 'yoffs.
