GOOD YEAR FOR THE YANKS IN NIRL FIRST
It's been a while since the New Yerby Yankees were a factor in the North Island First Division... the first year was a good one... the Yanks (18-12) came in a close second to league champion Kofa (20-10)... but they have been a lackluster club since, playing less than .500 baseball the last two seasons... not so this season... New Yerby is out of the gate with 6 wins in the first 7 games and they already boast a 2-game lead over runners-up Stockdale (4-3) and Dutton (4-3).
Yesterday afternoon the Yankees soundly whipped last year's champ Joliet 10-3... Dutton got the best of the Jackson Jackalopes 9-7... and Stockdale dismissed the Wafford Eagles 6-2.
