I read a couple of times (on How-To Geek, I believe), that one should never volunteer to download a major Windows update for the reason that I alluded to above; that is, they roll these things out and listen for feedback. You don't want to be in the vanguard of that process if you can help it.

Realize, though, that I am not talking about Windows Defender antivirus updates. Those you should get regularly on auto-download. If you look at the image that I posted above, the stuff on the top, which includes antivirus updates, will happen automatically. It's the thing on the bottom for which you have some control and what I am saying is, never volunteer!
