On my most recent theme team I completed all of the Live missions, played them for a season to earn some extra PP and then sold them all off and bought the team i wanted, you can make decent profits just from doing the Live missions and while they are the most efficient players to use in terms of cost to effectiveness no one is forcing you to use them
