Bout 430 - Ingemar Johansson versus John Tate
Round 4 Commentary
Here come the fighters to ring center for Round 4 ...
Tate's corner men worked their magic on his's cut on the bridge of nose. There's no bleeding at all under the Vaseline smear.
Johansson approaches flat-footed, but continues to move forward, not giving Tate any room to breathe.
Both fighters are probing, looking for an opening.
Johansson flicks a lead right to the head of Tate.
And now it appears as if Tate's cut has been reopened by one of those punches that landed.
More bad news for Tate as the gaping wound on the bridge of his nose is once again bleeding profusely.
Now we get a stoppage in the action while the referee leads Tate toward the ringside doctor for a quick consultation.
In Tate's favor, the bleeding isn't flowing into either of his eyes.
The doctor is really taking a close look at it and Tate cannot like the expression on his face.
And on the advice of the doctor Ref Coyle is stopping the fight! Tate's cuts are just too severe!
Johansson is the winner by TKO here in Round 4!
