Keep in mind, a player's status will show based on the position they are set to, but the in-game fatigue will depend on what actual role they are used in.

So, for example, if a guy is still listed as a SP, even pitching to a couple batters in one game will show him very tired for the next one, since he wouldn't be able to throw a full game as a starter the next day. But if you change his position to a RP, then he'll show his status as a reliever, which in that case will be more rested.

But what's actually used is what role they enter at. So if he's listed as a SP, he might show at 15% status for the next day, but he might still pitch on that day anyways, because the game is treating him there like a reliever, where he might be 70% rested.
