My fictional Chicago White Sox ace starter, Ramiro Garcia, just lost a no-hitter. Which is hard to do. But he did it in such an especially awkward way that I just had to share it.
First of all, the White Sox got shut out, so even if he'd completed the ninth with the no-hitter intact, the game would have gone to extra innings.
And even before the fateful bottom of the 9th, Garcia had a perfect game going until the 7th, when he fielded a comebacker and promptly threw it into the stands for an error. That was the Cleveland Blues' only baserunner until the 9th. Oops.
But, oh, that bottom of the 9th...
