Fair enough, although I happen to feel that PSA and BGS have sucked joy out of the hobby. But I'm the kind of guy who thinks cardboard should be free, not stuck between two slabs of Lucite.
I have heard that before about the Griffeys. Of course, it was the first year of Upper Deck and, I'll tell you what, it was a hell of a marketing ploy and definitely got them noticed.
With regards to the Maddux - well, it's a collection reward card. So no seeding there - it makes sense that the whale-iest whales would all have it, either by completing all the NL missions or buying it outright. Because it's a damn good card.
I've been around this game long enough and opened enough packs to trust the algorithm and distribution. To me, the simplest solution is correct - that there is a group of players who have spent thousands of dollars to get Perfect Points in order to buy a number of high-value cards in the Auction House. If there is any favouritism going on, it would purely be to provide them with a better "exchange rate" in real $ to PP than you can get by clicking on the "Buy PP" button in the game. But the company makes no secret about that - they even include the email address for bulk purchases on that very screen.
Anyway, good to have you back. Not like you really ever left. I've always thought you to be one of the better players of the game.
