Dreadful idea. 33.3% of teams making it is enough. Let's not go all NHL (51.6%), NBA (53.3%). NFL's not too bad at 37.5%, but the other two are a joke that render the grind of the regular season somewhat pointless. Hell, back when only 15.4% of the teams made it, the 1984 Royals and the 1987 Twins (who didn't really deserve their spot in the playoffs, and got hot over two weeks to win it all)
somehow managed to score fewer runs than they allowed, and backed into the postseason. You have to make the 162 mean something, and those two teams were a joke.
