Cardinals Koufax, Cy Young Award Winner:
The Louisville Cardinals have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making.
It's Sandy Koufax, this year's National League Cy Young Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.
Koufax compiled a 25-2 record in 32 starts, tallied 441 strikeouts in 229.2 innings and recorded a 1.88 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .146 batting average against him.
He received 153 first place votes out of a possible 174. Buck O'Brien of the UCLA Bruins finished second in voting with 17 first place votes, while Ed Stein of the Seton Hall Pirates finished third.
