Arizona Sweeps into the Super Regionals:
It's a sweet sweep for the Arizona Wildcats and they have won the Regionals. The UCLA Bruins were not able to keep pace with the Wildcats and dropped the series in short order, losing 1-0 in the deciding game.
"This wasn't really the effort we hoped for," said UCLA manager Art McMillan.
It's now on to the Super Regionals for Arizona after their 2-0 series win.
Leading the way for the winners was left fielder John Baker, who was named MVP. For the series, Baker hit .286 with a .444 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Arizona Wildcats don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Louisville Cardinals - Arizona State Sun Devils series. That series is tied at 1 game apiece. The Super Regionals schedule will be announced after the Regionals finishes.
