Wildcard Goes the Distance, South Alabama Prevails:
A classic and dramatic Wildcard has wrapped up, with the South Alabama Jaguars outlasting the Oregon Ducks to advance to the Regionals.
South Alabama won the final game by a score of 8-5 and took the series 2-1.
"We can enjoy this one tonight, but then it's back to work and thinking about the next win," said South Alabama center fielder Joe DiMaggio, whose standout performance earned him the nod as series MVP.
DiMaggio hit .385 with a .429 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The South Alabama Jaguars will play against the Purdue Boilermakers in the next round. Purdue won their series against the UCF Knights 2 games to 0. The Regionals schedule will be announced after the Wildcard finishes.
