How Did Brad Wellman Do?
This is the most random post in the history of this forum, I'm quite certain.
I mentioned in another thread that I'm going to start my next franchise/game (after I play awhile longer with the 2033 Royals - maybe until 2040) - and I'm going back to the 1989 Royals with George Brett, Bret Saberhagen, Frank White, Bo Jackson and................... Brad Wellman?
You see, that 1989 team (I was 8 at the time) is what made me fall in love with baseball and the Royals. I have been hooked ever since. So going back to that team will be really special.
I bet I'm the only person on this forum who remembers Brad Wellman - he was my first favorite player. The quote goes, "A boy will never have a hero ever again bigger than his first favorite baseball player." He was mine because he wore my little league number (3), played the same positions (2B/SS) and I liked his name.
I'm strangely excited to go back and have him on my bench as a utility infielder and try to keep him around as long as possible.
So I ask... has anyone simmed recently in that era? How long past 1989 did Brad Wellman last? That was his last year in MLB (he retired at 30 - I've interviewed him in my adult life and found out he just wanted to provide more for his family so just walked away. Straight from MLB to "real life")
Feel free to just completely ignore this post, I'm probably talking out loud, but wanted to share that story with you and see if anyone had quickly accessible stats/info on him.
