In the bottom of the first, Burch scored from third when Wheat grounded to second.
In the top of the second, Gibson was injured stealing second and had to leave the game. He was replaced by Vin Campbell.
In the bottom of the second, Lumley led off with a 426 foot homer. Burch added a two-out RBI single.
In the bottom of the third, the Superbas loaded the bases with nobody out. Wheat scored from third when Alperman grounded into the 4-6-3.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Superbas again loaded the bases with nobody out. Jordan then hit a two-run double. Burch scored from third when Wheat grounded to short. With a runner on third and one out, Gene Moore Sr took the mound for the Pirates and kept the runner from scoring.

In the top of the eighth, pinch hitter Rabbit Robinson put the Pirates on the board with a two-out RBI single.
In the bottom of the eighth, with a runner on first and one out, Lefty Leifield took the mound for the Pirates. Two runs would score with Ed Abbaticchio made a bad throw after fielding a Lumley grounder.
The Superbas got 11 hits in the game while the Pirates made 4 errors.
