Wildcats Prevail, as Super Regionals Goes to the Wire:
The Villanova Wildcats and East Carolina Pirates held nothing back in an entertaining Super Regionals that went the distance.
In the end, it will be Villanova advancing to the Semifinals, after a 3-1 triumph in the final game at Clark-LeClair Stadium, to wrap up the series 2-1.
The Wildcats players celebrated jubilantly in their clubhouse after the game, while the scene was one of dismay on the opposing side for the Pirates.
Mike Tiernan was named series MVP for Villanova. For the series, Tiernan hit .308 with a .400 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Villanova Wildcats will play against the UCLA Bruins in the next round. UCLA won their series against the Louisville Cardinals 2 games to 0. The Semifinals schedule will be announced after the Super Regionals finishes.
