Aztecs Prevail, as Super Regionals Goes to the Wire:
Depending on your loyalties, the Super Regionals was either thrilling or heartbreaking.
The series went down to its final game, with the San Diego State Aztecs and the UTEP Miners giving their fans plenty of drama. In the end, the Aztecs came out on top, winning 2-1 at El Paso Field today to take the series 2-1.
"We're lucky to be going into the Semifinals," said San Diego State pitcher Collin Hough. "If all the series are like this, it'll definitely be an entertaining postseason."
Hough earned series MVP honors, hitting for a .636 average, with 1 home runs, 1 RBI and 5 runs scored.
The San Diego State Aztecs will play against the Oklahoma Sooners in the next round. Oklahoma won their series against the Auburn Tigers 2 games to 0. The Semifinals schedule will be announced after the Super Regionals finishes.
