In the top of the second, the Mariners loaded the bases with two out. But Wells struck out Wilson to get out of the jam.
In the bottom of the second, Singleton put the White Sox on the board with a two-out RBI single.
In the top of the third, Boone tied the game with a two-out RBI double. Olerud followed with a single to score Boone and put the Mariners in the lead.

In the top of the fourth, the Mariners again loaded the bases with two out. Martinez then put the Mariners up big with a grand slam.
In the bottom of the fourth, Clayton hit a two-out RBI single.
In the top of the fifth, the Mariners loaded the bases with nobody out. Kelly Wunsch took the mound for the White Sox and immediately struck out McLemore and there was one away. Wilson then popped into the infield fly rule for the second out. Wunsch then struck out Cameron and the Mariners failed to score.
In the bottom of the sixth, Lee hit a two-out solo home run 404 feet and the White Sox had some life left in them.

In the top of the seventh, with a runner on first and one out, Lorenzo Barcelo took the mound for the White Sox.
In the bottom of the eighth, Joel Pineiro took the mound for the Mariners.
In the bottom of the ninth, Kazuhiro Sasaki took the mound for the Mariners.
The White Sox got 11 hits in the contest but three errors led to the Mariners scoring six unearned runs. Three White Sox pitchers combined to record 11 strikeouts.
