WAFFORD, STOCKDALE WILL BATTLE FOR NIRL SECOND CROWN
20 games wasn't enough to decide the champion in the North Island Recreational League Second Division... the Wafford Eagles (13-7) and Stockdale Mustangs (13-7) ended the regular season tied for the top spot... so they will meet in a single-game playoff next Sunday for the league crown... no matter who wins, both of them will be promoted up to the NIRL First Division next season... Kofa and Avalon will be coming down to the NIRL Second next year... they were the two bottom teams in the premier league.
In Sunday's action Stockdale rallied to top Kinston 4-2... Wafford tripped Theodore 4-2... and West Chester trimmed Union Heights 5-3 in the last games of the season.
