Today is the third game in the series in Pittsburgh between the Pirates and the St Louis Cardinals. The merry month of May has become the miserable month of May for the Pirates as they are now 0-6 this month.

In the bottom of the second, Syd Smith put the Pirates on the board with a two-out RBI single. Camnitz then followed with a two-run single.

In the top of the third, Byrne put the Cardinals on the board with a two-out RBI single.

In the top of the fourth, Leach threw Ellis out at home as he tried to score from second on a Shaw single.

In the bottom of the fifth, Wagner hit a 382 foot solo home run with two out. Wilson added an RBI triple.

After six: Pittsburgh 5 St Louis 1.

In the top of the eighth, Byrne tried to give the Cardinals some life with an RBI single. Clarke, however, threw Byrne out at home as he tried to score from second on an Ellis single.

In the bottom of the eighth, Irv Higginbotham took the mound for the Cardinals. Syd Smith added an RBI single to the Pirates lead.

The Cardinals lost despite racking up 12 hits.

Final score: Pittsburgh 6 St Louis 2.
