UTEP Sweeps into the Regionals:
Mel Parnell isn't taking anything for granted, but he likes his team's chances to capture a College World Series.
"We're playing great baseball right now," said the UTEP Miners hurler, who was named MVP of the Wildcard after his club swept the Sacramento State Hornets.
It's off to the Regionals for UTEP, after winning the clinching game by a 3-0 count and the series 2-0.
It remains to be seen whether Parnell's confidence is warranted, but at this point the team is looking good. The MVP had a 0.00 ERA over 8 innings pitched, with a 1-0 record.
The UTEP Miners don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Baylor Bears - Gonzaga Bulldogs series. Gonzaga leads the series 1 games to 0. The Regionals schedule will be announced after the Wildcard finishes.
