2011

  • Settings to 2012 for Stats/$
  • An offensive breakout year.
  • Another reigning champion dethroned.
  • Long Beach returned to the Series but was downed by the Los Angeles Seraphs 4-1 helping LA to win its first series in 3 appearances.
  • It was also the first year both #1 seeds came out of their respective LCS's.
  • In the FL Titan Alex Mercado (.372) and in the CL Nate Harden (.357) took home their batting titles with record-setting seasons. It was the 39-year-old Harden's 3rd title.
  • Raynaud Gusti (BOS) was the only FL slugger to hit 40+ HR's leading the league with 52 while Rattler Dicky Octaviano hit 56 to pace the CL.
  • In a huge turn of events, IBL pitching had a rough year.
  • The lowest ERA amongst qualifiers was Arnout van der Ploeg of LA at 2.92 while the CL ERA winner was Ft Worth's Dan Srp (yep, Srp) at 3.32. His teammate Ray Dais was 2nd at 3.41. Dais took 2nd in ERA, 2nd in wins (14), and 1st in K's at 177.
  • The strikeout leader in the FL was no surprise as Mike Arnold won again. What was a surprise was the winning total of 164!
  • San Antonio's Gil Camardiel went 6-8 in a 13 inning 15-14 loss. The game went into the 8th with Houston up 7-3 then into the bottom of the 9th with the Apollos up 8-5. The Stars tied it 8-8. Both teams scored 3 in the 10th, 2 in the 11th and 1 in the 12th before Houston walked it off in the 13th. 29 runs 37 hits. Batting champion Nick Harden had 2 game-tying HR's.
  • Racer catcher Giovany Lamotta became just the 3rd player in league history to have 6 hits in a 9 inning game as he went 6-6 in a 13-9 win over Houston.
  • A bit later in the season 32-year-old right fielder Victor Duran of the Long Beach Titans went 6-6 hitting a league record 5 doubles in a 16-7 Titan win at Toledo.
  • For the first time in league history, there were no 15+ strikeout games.
  • 2011 Milestones:
  • Danny Garcia (LB) Chris Theurer (MEM) Brock Vasher (LAN) hit their 400th career HR's
  • Branden Simmons (AZ) and Alfredo Valdes (TOL) hit their 500th career HR's
  • Aurelian Vautier (SAC) recorded his 400th save and Eddie Sadewasser (LA) recorded his 500th

  • Long Beach was busy on award night.
  • Alex Mercado (.372/.445/.653 35 HR) took home the MVP
  • Mike Haigler (12-3 2.96) took home the Koufax
  • Closer Akke Smit 11-4 3 SV 2.47 ERA took home the Rivera
  • Sacramento had its second straight Rookie of the year with LF Danny Gilbert hitting .270 with 29 HR's.
  • Rattler Dicky Octaviano won the Babe Ruth in the Continental hitting .300 with 56 HR's
  • Ft Worth's Dan Srp went 12-9 3.32 to win the Koufax
  • Oklahoma City's Travis Griffin hit .343 with 19 HR to win the Jackie Robinson Award
  • And while the name on the front may change the name of the back does not. In LA this year reliever Eddie Sadewasser took home his 8th Mariano Rivera award going 6-3 43 Saves and a 2.15 ERA
