2010

  • Both of the wild card winners upset the #1 seeds in round 1 and both would get to the World Series for the 1st time in league history.
  • The Long Beach Titans would take home their 1st title and halt the Cowboys bid to become just the 2nd back to back champions in IBL history.
  • The Frontier League now leads the Continental 6-5 in World Series wins.
  • Brendon Pugh (WAS) .326 and Matt Hintz (MEM) .310 took home the batting titles.
  • The Portland Pioneers lost 114 games, which I believe is a new record.
  • Raynaud Gusti (BOS) and Miguel Ramirez (ALB) tied for the FL HR crown at 52 while Chris Theurer (MEM) led the IBL with 53.
  • Mike Goode of Long Beach was the only hurler to record a 300K season (305). Mike Arnold ended with 298.
  • Just one no-hitter this year. Memphis' Mike Edens struck out 6 at Oklahoma City on May 29th.

  • 2010 Milestones:
  • Jerry Cox and Tony Lopez recorded their 500th career HR's. Cox did it on opening day.
  • Nate Harden (HOU) Danny Gonzalez (LAN) Carlos Hernandez (OKC) Gary Buteaux (CHI) Tyler Romano (SAC) Danny Sarmiento (CHA) Santos Madrigal (DEN) all recorded their 400th career home runs.
  • Chris Wright (LA) joined the 400 save club.

  • Sacramento's Jon Jones became the 1st Frontier League player to win 2 Babe Ruth awards as he won his 2nd in 2 years hitting .279/.383/.626 with 50 HR
  • Wibren Meurs extended his record with his 6th Koufax (and 2nd in a row) going 14-11 2.60 for the Titans.
  • Sacramento's Nick Daley took home Rookie of the year honors becoming the 3rd Rail Cat rookie to win the award.
  • In the Rivera, the Bulldogs, who had won 6 times with closer and future Hall of Famer Eddie Sadewasser won it yet again. This time, with Sadewasser in Sacramento, Ernie Gilmour went 3-4 45 Saves 1.43 ERA to win it for the 7th time in 11 years for Pittsburgh.
  • Glen Tylor (DEN) took home his 6th silver slugger as a catcher, 4th in a row while Jerry Cox won his 8th for the Bombers.
  • In the Continental Lancaster's Brock Vasher hit .287/.397/.618 with 52 homers to capture his first MVP
  • Teammate Adam Sutton won his 1st Koufax going 16-7 2.04
  • Houston Apollo rookie Antonio Salazar hit .290 with 24 HR to take win the Jackie Robinson Award, given each year to the game's best rookies.
  • And in the Rivera a familiar name with a new team. San Diego Panther closer Eddie Sadewasser became the 1st Panther to win the award and took it home for his 7th win as well. He has won 7 of the 11 trophies while taking it home for the 3rd straight year for a 3rd different team.
