Ty Cobb Chosen AL's Premier Player:

Cal Poly's Ty Cobb put the wraps on a fine campaign today by winning the 2027 American League Most Valuable Player Award.

The 27-year-old veteran scorched the opposition with a .438 average, picking up 262 hits, 55 doubles, 6 triples, 82 home runs and 185 RBIs, while scoring 177 runs.

He received 143 first place votes out of a possible 146. Pete Browning of the Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors finished second in voting, while Shoeless Joe Jackson of the Montana State Bobcats finished third with 3 first place votes.
