You know the numbering of the positions? 123456789 are P,C,1B,2B,3B,SS,LF,CF,RF
So a 2F means the ball went in the direction of the catcher (2) but went foul. A pretty common "fouled back" so you will see it all of the time, if it goes into play it will get another number.
89XD means the ball went between the CF (8) and the RF(9) and it went extra deep. This often is a dinger or an extra base hit.
Those number don't mean the player made or had a play at this ball - even though often they do. So 89XD could mean home run to right-center, or fly ball caught by the RF or CF, or fly ball dropping in or off the wall, or liner - in any case, the ball went extra deep to right center, anything else is up to luck and wind and the outfielders.
