Rebels Dominate, Sweep Regionals:
Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the American League Regionals. It turned out quite a bit different.
The Ole Miss Rebels swept aside the Old Dominion Monarchs to advance to the Super Regionals, winning the final game by a 11-0 score at Bud Metheny Baseball Complex.
The series MVP was right fielder Brian Bolton, who hit .333 with a .400 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 4 runs.
"We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it."
The Ole Miss Rebels don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Texas A&M Aggies - Arkansas Razorbacks series. That series is tied at 1 game apiece. The Super Regionals schedule will be announced after the Regionals finishes.
