Cal Poly Moves on to Regionals:
The Cal Poly Mustangs proved to be too much to handle for the Long Beach State Dirtbags in the Wildcard, and a sweep was the end result.
Cal Poly punched its ticket to the Regionals on the strength of a 9-3 win in the deciding game, which wrapped up the series 2-0.
Cal Poly left fielder Ty Cobb, named series MVP, was instrumental in the sweep, as he mashed Long Beach State pitching to the tune of a .400 average, with a .400 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 2 runs.
The Cal Poly Mustangs will play against the Baylor Bears in the next round. Baylor won their series against the Iowa State Cyclones 2 games to 0. The Regionals schedule will be announced after the Wildcard finishes.
