Gamecocks Dominate, Sweep Wild Card:
It was a sweet sweep for the South Carolina Gamecocks as they eased past the Mississippi State Bulldogs to advance to the Regionals.
South Carolina won the final game by a 1-0 count and the series 2-0.
"We're just fortunate to get through it quickly and be able to rest up for the next series," said Sammy Kane, who was named series MVP.
For the series, Kane hit .714 with a .778 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 1 RBI and scored 0 runs.
The South Carolina Gamecocks don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos - LSU Tigers series. UC Santa Barbara leads the series 1 game to 0. The Regionals schedule will be announced after the Wild Card finishes.
