1908

The New York Giants pulled of an amazing season in 1907. They went from 7th place in 1906 to posting their franchise's first winning season in 1907 en route to a World Series upset of the 100-win Cleveland Broncos. Both the Giants and the Broncos appear to be teams on the upswing. They both have a lot of young, talented players who can perform for them for many seasons to come.

Cleveland is the early favorite to repeat in the AL, but no one has repeated the AL pennant since the Browns' organization did it in 1901-02. New York's incredible pitching staff puts them are nearly even par with the Broncos, and those two teams should duke it out again this season. Remember, the Highlanders had the 2nd best record in baseball last season. The Philadelphia A's are still serious contenders, and with solid pitching staffs in St. Louis and Washington, those two teams will be competitive too.

The Giants are certainly talented, but many players are still young enough to question the team's ability to repeat. They are among the favorites, but the Cubs have a well-rounded team, and even Boston will be strong. Brooklyn will be competitive, but it is doubtful they will be able to put together enough victories to take the pennant.
