Tonight is the second game in the series in New York between the Yankees and the Anaheim Angels. Last night, the Angels ended the Yankees four-game winning streak.

The Pittsburgh Pirates signed free agent SP Chris Holt to a 1-year contract worth a total of $900,000.

In the top of the first, Hollins put the Angels on the board with a two-out RBI single.

After three: Anaheim 1 New York 0.

In the bottom of the fourth, Martinez put the Yankees in the lead with a 331 foot two-run homer with two out. Raines followed with a triple and then scored when Watson was called for a balk.

After six: New York 3 Anaheim 1.

In the top of the seventh, Fielder led off with a 356 foot home run to make it a one-run game. Greene made it back-to-back home runs when he sent the game-tying shot 433 feet. With runners at the corners and one out, Darren Holmes took the mound for the Yankees. He walked Palmeiro to load the bases with one out. Salmon put the Angels back in the lead with a two-run single. Another walk reloaded the bases with still one out. Graeme Lloyd took the mound for the Yankees. Lloyd sent Anderson down on strikes for the second out. Jason Grimsley then took the mound for the Yankees and got Fielder, in his second at-bat of the inning, to fly to right to retire the side.

In the bottom of the seventh, Mike Holtz took the mound for the Angels.

In the top of the ninth, with runners at first and second and one out, Mariano Rivera took the mound for the Yankees and prevented the Angels from adding to their lead.

In the bottom of the ninth, Troy Percival took the mound for the Angels. Palmeiro injured his back catching a fly ball for the second out and had to leave the game. He was replaced by Reggie B Williams. The Yankees loaded the bases with two out. Pinch hitter Chili Davis tied it with a two-run single. Girardi then won it with his own RBI single.

The Angels had 10 hits in the loss.

Final score: New York 6 Anaheim 5.
