Thank you, but I think I'll just take his advice. He has 35 years of professional experience with this stuff, plus loads of schooling in it prior to choosing that area of medicine, to my zero seconds of school, or work.
Dr. Theresa Tam (Canadian doctor in charge), and Dr. David Williams (Ontario) are doing a very good job up here, and the political leaders aren't deviating from their recommendations so far. Generally, people are doing the 6 foot thing. I'm gonna sound like an old man here, but a lot of the people not following the guidelines are the young 'uns, who seem to think that because they're in a much lower risk group, they can do whatever the hell they want. See: Florida beach throngs, and
the chartered plane to Mexico. Ah well, I remember feeling invincible, and being a young asshole too, so I guess I can give them a break. Except that this situation calls for actually giving a crap about others.
Convincing the states that can't be bothered with the guidelines or placing restrictions on the movement of their citizens or sizes of gatherings would be a good step, but nobody seems to want to do it. Yes, it ain't unbound freedom, but the potential ramifications of the alternative are extremely sub-optimal. Short term pain for long term gain should be the motto in these times.
Finding a way to convince churchgoers that perhaps it would be in everybody's best interest for them to find services online for now would be another step in the right direction. Obviously, being there to worship with family and friends is the most appealing option, except for right now. It isn't just about you, or me, or our families, or our friends. It's about everyone. It doesn't discriminate, or care if you're young, middle aged, old, rich, poor, black, white, yellow, brown, Christian, Atheist, right wing, centre-right, centre, centre-left, left wing, or anything in between. All it sees in all of us is a home in which to thrive. The most insidious thing about it is that you don't have to feel any symptoms at all to give it to someone else. It makes it very difficult to track, which is why waaay more testing is needed. Oops. Another rant.
