Everyone knew it had to end. The Flames entered tonight's game at the Saddledome as the only team yet to be defeated. But as it was Hallowe'en, the Sabres came into town ready for a trick and a treat.

Dominic Hasek stole the show with a 50 save performance and Geoff Sanderson's powerplay marker late in the second ended up being the game winner in this tight affair thus ending the Calgary's undefeated streak at 9 games to begin the season.

Brian Campbell opened the scoring at just :24 into for the first period on an early powerplay. Iginla tied it up with his 5th of the season from Zhitnik and Boyle at 10:48. Buffalo took the lead before for the first intermission with another powerplay goal from Methot at 11:39.

Both teams traded goals in the second. Rookie Mike Cammalleri tied the game at 4:33 of the middle frame from McAmmond and Zhitnik and Geoff Sanderson sealed it for the Sabres with his powerplay marker giving the Sabres three goals with the man advantage.

The third saw an onslaught of rubber as the Flames outshot the visitors 16 to 1 but as we've all seen before, Hasek put up his wall and the Sabres left town with an hard fought 2 points.

Shots were 52 to 17 for the Flames and the Flames went goalless on the man-advantage 8 times. Buffalo went 3 for 9.

Calgary ends the month of October with an impressive 6-1-3 start to the season and next plays Colorado in Calgary Nov 2. Buffalo plays tomorrow night in Edmonton.
