In the bottom of the first, Cora put the Mariners on the board with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the second, Segui hit a solo shot 350 feet. Wilson got an RBI with a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the third, Posada put the Yankees on the board with a 352 foot solo shot.

After three: Seattle 3 New York 1.

In the top of the fourth, O'Neill tied the game with a 336 foot two-run blast.

In the top of the fifth, Jeter put the Yankees in the lead with a two-run double. Tino Martinez brought Jeter home with a single.

In the bottom of the fifth, Edgar and brought the Mariners back within one with a two-run double. The Mariners went on to load the bases with nobody out. Segui swung and missed at strike three for the first out. But then a two-run double by Davis put the Mariners back in the lead. An intentional walk reloaded the bases with one out. Wilson would then ground into the inning-ending 4-6-3.

In the top of the sixth, Cory Lidle took the mound for the Mariners.

In the bottom of the sixth, Darren Holmes took the mound for the Yankees.

After six: Seattle 7 New York 6.

In the top of the ninth, Mike Timlin took the mound for the Mariners. With the tying run at first and two out, Tino Martinez grounded to short to end the game.

The Mariners got 10 hits in the win.

Final score: Seattle 7 New York 6.
