How many players are too many (on one team)?

Hello all,

As I posted previously, I decided to eliminate all of the Rookie Leagues and consolidate the minors. As the Tigers, my lowest team is my A- in Norwich; between promoting worthy players from the rookie leagues and my most recent draft, the team is overstocked.

Currently, the team has 138 players, split pretty evenly between position players and pitchers. I plan on culling it a bit later, based on age and potential.

My upper minor league teams, I tend to keep small so that the better players get more playing time. Usually, I tend to keep my rosters at 29/30 at AA, AA and regular A. So my questions are:

1) Should I keep more players in the upper minor leagues? Are there advantages/disadvantages to that?

2) What is a good maximum number for my lower minor league team? Seems like 100 is too high but I don't want to get too low. 60? 80?
