In the top of the seventh, the Yankees loaded the bases with nobody out. And Gehrig belted a 428 foot grand slam. Walberg was done and Lefty Willis took the mound for the Athletics.
In the bottom of the eighth, Foxx got an RBI single. Dykes followed with his own RBI single.
In the top of the ninth, following a lead off single, Dixie Leverett took the mound for the Athletics. The Yankees got a two-run double by Koenig. Koenig went on to score from second on a throwing error by Boley after he fielded a Dugan grounder.
The two teams combined for 29 hits in the contest.
