In the bottom of the eighth, Foxx got an RBI single. Dykes followed with his own RBI single.
In the top of the ninth, following a lead off single, Dixie Leverett took the mound for the Athletics. The Yankees got a two-run double by Koenig. Koenig went on to score from second on a throwing error by Boley after he fielded a Dugan grounder.
The two teams combined for 29 hits in the contest.
