In the top of the fifth, Charlie Chech took the mound for the Reds. Slagle added to the Cubs lead with a two-out RBI single.
In the bottom of the fifth, Chech put the Reds on the board with an RBI triple.

In the top of the seventh, Steinfeldt got a run-scoring single. A walk followed to load the bases with nobody out. Slagle flew to left for the first out without bringing home a run. Tinker then popped up to the catcher for the second out. But Kling came through with a two-run single to put the Cubs up by six.
In the top of the eighth, Charley Hall took the mound for the Reds.
The Cubs pounded out 11 hits in the win.
Final score: Chicago 7 Cincinnati 1.
