I play 100% offline, both MLB and fictional leagues, so I guess I wouldn't need every single update out that is related to online play, but which could be some potential cases that make an update avoidable other than those? I've always bought through Steam but if modding is not hard to apply on the standalone version I'd buy through the web to give you all profits!

I don't really have any specifics. I just know sometimes people have posted talking about preferring to skip a patch or wait for another one or whatever. Generally I think this is related to online leagues, and needing to be on the same patch.
