In any case if you play you have to go in knowing you may ( and this probably won't happen, OOTP has been very stable on release for quite awhile ) have to start over. So the question to you is... Would having to start over and seeing some different results from the first time drive you crazy?

What I normally do is import my on-going game and then make a backup. Open the game and proceed to build my custom views and ball park cameras (the new export to all stadium feature is so nice) I play 'em all out so once done I will start playing, of course, checking the forums first for any issues that may have come up. Which the last few years have been minimal. IIRC the only time I ever started over was during the total rewrite of 2006.

If something goes wrong I can go to my v21 backup. Or if a bug crops up that borks imports I can always import my v20 game again. Importing doesn't do anything to your previous years save, you cam import it as many times as you like.
What he said.

I never wait, this game has been very stable at release for a number of years now. I can pretty much guarantee you that by Friday OOTP20 won't even exist on my HD anymore.

Of course I have backups of my OOTP20 leagues. Still have backups from 17, 18, and 19.
