This happened to my league as well, we needed to pull the profile pictures from a backup of the league to get the proper face-gens back.

Process was:

1. close ootp
2. copy back-up files into saved_games\xxx.lg\news\html\images\profile_pictur es
3. open ootp
4. go to each team's modify uniforms page
5. force update

Last two steps are optional, but would recommend if back-up is not current
