2020 Phillies Wall Of Fame choice is Manny Trillo

March 7, 2020: The Philadelphia Phillies announced today that their choice for 2020 to the Phillies Wall Of Fame is Manny Trillo. Trillo hit .277 in his four seasons (1979-1982) with the Phillies and he hit .294 on their first World Championship team of 1980, while playing great defense as a Second Baseman. The diminutive, Venezuelan was a sparkplug on that championship team providing the Phils with both clutch hitting and highlight reel fielding excellence. He played 1,780 games in a 17 year MLB career (1973-1989) and made all-star teams in both leagues: N.L: 1977 Cubs and 1981 & 1982 Phillies and A.L. 1983 Indians. The Wall Of Fame of plaques of the electees is located just to the left of straightaway Center Field in Citizens Bank Park.
Trillo is 69 years of age (birthdate: Christmas Day, 1950).
The Phillies team Hall of Fame, their "The Phillies Wall Of Fame" was inaugurated in 1978 (Robin Roberts was the first selection) and one player has been elected every year since.
