Elite 1950s Catcher,Del Crandall Turns 90.
Del Crandall, and 8-time National League All-Star Catcher Turned 90 earlier this week. He broke into the majors at the age of 19 with the 1949 Boston Braves. He was a Brave through 1963 and earned spots on the National League All-Star team roster 8 times in a 10 year period.
Crandall belted 179 career home runs, but it was his defensive skills that lifted his status to that of an elite player.
Crandall was an all-star from 1953 to 1956, also from 1958 to 1960 and again in 1962.
