I know I play this game wrong, but I find OOTP to be one of the best trading games out there.
Wheeling and dealing to get the best players and more money. Trading around for salary relief. Trading for a SS so that I can package him later for an SP. Moving a guy I need for a prospect, only to trade back for him three weeks later. Seeing how far I can push the AI for a slick deal.
It's probably unfair and definitely unrealistic, but I find it to be a ton of fun. With a lot of trading games, you're conveying goods that don't really have any meaning in the game other than value (and roleplay text). Here, the "goods" are the players and their value is listed both in money (salary) and how well they play. The ultimate goal of winning the World Series means trading like a mad man for the best value in all senses of the word.
This does have the tendency of shifting around a ton of players on every team, but I could spend hours upon hours analyzing potential trades. With so many players, so many contracts, and so many metrics; what is a good trade can be really hard to determine!
