Brewers prospect report: Jim Atwell

The Denver Brewers currently have the best pitching in the WPK, with a much improved bullpen but mostly due to a great and deep starting rotation.

And with both Sekien Hamasaki and John Weaver, pitching mostly out of the 'pen, providing solid starts when given the opportunity, the future looks bright as well.

Then there is 22-year old Jim Atwell, currently pitching for the single A Bainbridge Brawlers. In his most recent start he showed why he is currently considered the top prospect in all of the WPK. The hard-throwing ground ball specialist struck out 11 in 8 innings, giving up just 4 hits, inducing 8 ground ball outs. And two starts prior he got batters to hit into 13 ground ball outs, giving up just 1 run in 8 innings (striking out 8.) He still needs to work on his control a bit but if he continues at this pace it is likely he will earn a promotion to AA by mid-season and the big leagues might not be far away.
