While I agree that it is unsubstantiated (and I really hope not true) are we really expecting the media to do its job and actually investigate something? The people that cover baseball are really good at not actually doing their job because they sure enjoy the fringe benefits of covering the sport.
I enjoy listening to the baseball channel on XM and over the last few days I have been hearing from a lot of them about how this was known by all of them at the station for a long time. That plenty of players had shared these things off air. So if it was so well known why didn't the media do it's job? In this regard it is just like steroids. Everyone supposedly knew about it but didn't lift a finger. Then those same hypocrites will keep said guys out of the hall.
This isn't even baseball's biggest black eye in my opinion. What about all of the human trafficking/rights violations they are guilty of? However, that is another scandal for another day.
