Neither of the two players on the ballot- starting pitcher Mike Young and left fielder Manny Nieto- got enough votes to remain on the ballot going forward.
Young did receive a few votes to reach 1% and did have one great year in the WPK when he was named the MGL Pitcher of the Year as a member of the San Francisco Velocity in 1966, going 18-10 with a 2.24 ERA, leading the league both in wins and ERA. But while he had another 18-win season at age 37 in 1969, his overall numbers fell far short of HOF levels.
Nieto was a 2-time All-Star who was among the leaders in home runs and RBI several years but also struck out a ton and hit for a low batting average and really never had a shot at the Hall.
(I realize that a lot of you would advise waiting for twenty seasons or so before even allowing HOF voting but through various test leagues I've run with OOTP 19 and 20 I haven't been displeased with how the program handles this sort of thing left to its own devices. So I decided to let things run their course here as well, and given the results of this first year of voting I'm pretty happy. This result is very reasonable and realistic.) |

I am a bit confused. You have started your Hall of Fame already? What do you have your parameters set at? I know it says in the announcement that they have to be 5 years removed from retirement to be considered but with year 11 just being completed that would mean that you must have minimum service years for the HoF set at 5 or 0 which either way is a bit odd. Ten years is the standard as I am sure you know. It would appear that both Mike Young and Manny Nieto started playing in the WPK in 1965 only playing until 1969 or 1970 and then retiring? I am just curious if this is all by design or not? Please clarify and make my head stop hurting.
