Is this an issue that impacts historical games mostly?
Reading this has me checking the teams in one of my saves (in 2036, started as a 2019 MLB league, 20/80 scale). One of the good teams, the Phillies is starting a 45 rated SS over a 55 rated SS because of the bat.
The good hitting SS is rated at 75 while the better defender is rated at 40 because his bat is fringe for sure.
On my own team, I have a SS with 75 defensive rating rated at just a 50 overall because his bat is...not good. If I had a better hitting SS, he'd probably get the start (manager sets the lineups).
Another team has a 25 defense in LF starting (as in, in LF, not as DH). The depth starter isn't rated at LF at all while in AAA there's a 55 defense LF.
That's just a few teams, but if anything, my league is undervaluing defense, or at least some of the teams really give little consideration.
