Game 2 Championship Series
The second home game in Paris bore a remarkable resemblance to the first one. The Artists struck in the first inning and were never challenged for the rest of the contest.
For the second day in a row Paris out hit, out pitched, and out fielded the Ottawa Expedition as they threaten to make this series a very short one.
Sebastian Vautier, ex Le Diamant and Paris SP, just didn't have his normally reliable stuff as he yielded 8 runs on 8 hits. Just 5 of those runs were earned as SS Raphael Girard committed 2 errors, the first to the lead off batter in the first inning.
The balanced Artist attack featured hits by every starter except lead off hitter Matthieu Michel. Julien Henri was the only Artist to collect 2 hits. On a side note the first 8 batters in the Artist line up each scored once.
But, Julien Carlier had a lot to say about how this game played out as he worked deep into the game (8th inning) and did not allow any runs. Carlier has only allowed 3 runs in the last 21 innings of playoff baseball.
The series will resume in Canada as the Expedition hope to find the formula that allowed them to best Paris 8 of 12 times during the regular season. They played 38-31 ball both at home and on the road during the regular season. The Artists are only 33-36 away from Paris so that might be the key for the Expedition as they work to get into this series before it's lights out.
