Massively terrible game for Folliston June 9, 1873 (Part 001)
I'm posting the box score and the game log from probably the worst regular-season game one of my teams has participated in for any dynasty I've created before, in the next few posts. Many of the runs could probably have been prevented from scoring had certain players not failed to cover certain bases at times, I think. Or at least a few, anyway.
One of OOTP's major weaknesses, as far as I can tell, in at least the OOTP 19 version, is the frequent illogical movements of the defenders on the field at any particular time. Or the frequent holding of the ball when real-life players wouldn't do so, et cetera, I think, when runners are trying for bases at times.
Failure to cover the proper bases and/or back up them with the proper players, et cetera, probably helped to make it much easier for the Warriors to score massively in this game. Among other things, of course.
After things went really bonkers, I decided, since it was highly unlikely that Folliston would be able to come back easily enough, and tie the score, to let several players try and gain at least a few innings and/or at-bats worth of experience, even if they weren't yet rated or sufficiently rated at certain positions. Which probably led to several more errors, obviously, but any bit of experience people can get at multiple positions might perhaps help to improve their ratings at times, I think. Right?
Will write more later, I'm sure. I hope to not see another game like this anytime soon, at least in terms of being on the shorter end of a game like this, in any case. CD out.
