If nothing changes then why would anyone ever sell a historical card before it's collection is out? We all know it will eventually shoot up in price. You can almost never find diamonds for the yet to be released franchises under 15K now.

That's changed just recently, because the odds are the franchises you're guessing on will be picked next. I had been picking up some of the bad Yankee diamonds for pretty cheap a few weeks ago for example.
